BIP DNA Forensic Marking Round

The DNA Forensic Marking Round, a new addition to the BIP Family of Ammunitions

The BIP DNA Forensic Marking Round version of the BIP Standard 40mm less lethal munitions. This round can be used to deliver a liquid substance that includes a forensic coding system. This can be used in a number of operational scenarios such as riot control and border control for human tracking.

As an example, riot organizers are often masked, hiding their identities. The DNA round can be used against those individuals for identification purposes in future apprehension. Another application is the use in border control operations. When officers are in pursuit of smugglers and migrants, they can be marked using the BIP DNA, and at some future point, apprehended in a safer and more ideal environment.

The SDI’s BIP DNA Forensic Marking round can also be used for vehicle marking. An application of vehicle marking might include marking vans or trucks used in cross border human trafficking. Another application might be in a naval scenario where boats engaged by Coast Guard forces in drug trafficking or pirating, are marked for eventual apprehension in port.

SDI’s forensic marking marks the skin, clothing, and vehicles with designated codes only seen under a (UV) black light, or microscope.

Each projectile contains a unique compound. By using a combination of up to 30 materials, over 1 billion unique forensic codes are available. These codes are invisible to the naked eye, but fluoresce yellow under ultraviolet (UV) light, unbeknownst to the target.

Once dry, it becomes non-transferable and is virtually impossible to remove. The forensic solution lasts for weeks on skin (before exfoliating off), and even longer on clothes and shoes.
